Frequently Asked Questions
Question: There are numerous aspiring innkeeper workshops. What makes this workshop special?

Answer:  Most aspiring innkeeper workshops are done in one day. We encourage all aspiring innkeepers to do as much research as possible, but we don't feel that you can learn all the information needed in just one day. Our Aspiring Innkeeper Workshop gives you more than 24 hours of instruction over a 4 day period. We also give you a free 2 hour consultation with the mentor(s) any time after you complete our workshop.  It is very important to us that you have the knowledge and skills to be successful.

Question:  Why did you start the Bed and Breakfast Seminars?

Answer:  We love being innkeepers! Year after year we meet people who say "oh, someday I'd love to have a B&B" or "I want to have a B&B when I retire" and "Wouldn't it be fun to be an innkeeper?" Then we saw people spend their life's saving to buy a B&B who didn't do their research. Once they had their B&B they struggled and the reality of life as an innkeeper was not what they expected. Unfortunately, some of those innkeepers have now either closed down or had to sell at a loss. It's just heartbreaking. They key to success is doing all the research you can before you get into the industry. Our goal is to make sure you have all the information you need to make an informed decision.

Question:  Your workshop is located in the northwest, but I'm interested in having my B&B in a different part of the country. Is this workshop still right for me?

Answer:
Yes! Most of the information can be used no matter where you end up living. We always suggest that for area specific questions you should contact the state association and/or take that 1 day workshop most state associations have. You can never get too much information! Laws and regulations change not only with the state, but each individual county and city. It is imperative that when you choose the location that you do all the research necessary for that area.
